PROJECT CONCEPT
The overall design is based on behavior-setting theories. The furniture layout is designed to create a space within a space. The spaces are arranged in a central location for “public areas” and the bedrooms that are “private areas” are in other wings of the house. This helps control the way people move and interact throughout the house. The minimalistic furniture fits within comfort for everyone and safety concerns. The client wants guests to feel comfortable and safe within their home (client-centered design and universal design). The house is spacious for comfort and safety while having large rooms for entertaining since it is important to Haitian culture.
